The Eagle River Ale House Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Loved the pizza, beer, and service. They have a downstairs bar with dining hall, patio seating, and upstairs bar with open seating. We went upstairs and received prompt and friendly service from Lisa, the manager, and our wonderful bartender Matt!! Thanks for making my Eagle River Alaska experience a nice, local, fun and friendly one!! :)

All in all, my visit to the Eagle River Ale House wasn't bad. I was a little surprised at the length of the wait for a table for two (about 15 minutes) for a seemingly small town but I don't think that's the restaurant's fault. My uncle and I were eventually seated upstairs in the wine bar. The service was a little slow but I blame management or the ownership, or whoever decided to have so few members of the wait staff service such a large area (and doing so by running up and down the stairs). We waited approximately 20 minutes before we were able to place our food order but things ran much faster after that. There was a point in our meal where we were asked if we could move to another location because they were expecting a large group and our table was just a little bit in the way. The staff literally picked up our table, food and all, and moved us to a better spot. We were minimally inconvenienced but our lives went on. The food was very good, I even ordered a sandwich to go to have for lunch the following day and on the third day I recommended them to a friend in town for lunch. I will probably return on my next trip to town, but I hope the staffing issues are addressed (at least for peak meal times) and I hope there is a little bit better planning when it comes to seating large parties with reservations (and those who will be seated around them).

It is hot or miss here. Love the atmosphere and the service is good but the food is just ok at best.

We stopped for breakfast and first walking in it seemed like an upscale sports bar. The food was very disappointing, we had ordered corn beef hash which was very dry and tasted like it was out of a can, the hash browns tasted like it was cooked in old oil and the coffee states that it was fresh ground but tasted like it was Folgers. Do not stop and waste your money.

Good beer, good food, good place to watch the game.

Called ahead and reserved a table for four. Good thing. The place was packed. Wanna know why? - 33 beers on tap - Enormous portions - Great service - TVs everywhere - Did I mention the 33 beers on tap? You can bring a radio to turn to any of the TVs. Who has a portable radios these days? I would have upped my rating, but they need to provide audio to the patrons. Great idea, but no follow thru.

Excellent pizza and plenty of beer and sports! What else can you ask for? Lol. Great service each time I've been here. Cheesy fries are awesome too. "The Rock" pizza is an excellent choice and never disappoints.

As a local I was ecstatic to get another dining option here. Nope. Food is awful and way overpriced. I'm actually good on the overpriced if the food is worth it, but it's not here. Good for meeting friends for drinks but that's about it.

We came in for dinner at 530. Hostess and waitress were both great. Ordered the chicken burrito and ahi tacos. The chicken burrito was a decent size, but $17 for a burrito thats pretty pricey. It came with salsa and you would think it would come with sour cream too. That was a extra 50 cents. The ahi tacos, were not good. Mostly lettuce, not very many pieces of ahi and it was dry. They provided salsa with it as well. Those ahi tacos were $16. The menu didn't really excite me, but the beer choices were good.

Meh. That's all I can really say about this place. Food was subpar, service was kind of bad but I've had worse. Probably wouldn't go back.

I absolutely love this place! They have the best nachos...and giant beers. The staff is kind of hit or miss. I've had amazing service and very outgoing to crap and not so friendly. But either way, the environment is nice, it's pretty close to home, has a crap ton of tv's and they're always playing sports. It's like a BWW but better :)

    (5)
  • Moani H.

Their food was surprisingly good and they have a ton of beers on tap. Service was friendly. Food took a little longer (~40 mins).

  • John P.

Nice environment, especially if your into sports, many large flat screen TV's, but not to loud, able to hols a nice conversation. Food was good, large quantities. Spacious, upstairs and downstairs. Servers were courtious.

Not worth the drive from anchorage. The food was good but not for the price. $3 for a soda is outrages. Not a bad environment but not exactly a kid friendly place. Service is slow for early Saturday afternoon.

  • Nicole J.

The cheese fries with bacon and ranch are the bomb! Too many beers to select from all over the world. Service can be slow when they are busy, but the atmosphere is great.

  • Samantha G.

Meh indeed. I was expecting more. I was hoping for at least average. I got kinda icky and a stomach ache. The service was alright. Friendly, though not exactly attentive. The beer offerings are ok, but definitely leave something to be desired considering "ale house" is in the name. The food hovered somewhere between icky and maybe edible when really hungry. Not a pleasant experience.

The waitstaff is friendly and, from my experience, fast. The food is disappointing for the cost. With Pizza Man so close by, they should really work on their quality. The beer selection is fantastic. They have a blueberry beer brewed locally just for them that makes the trip there totally worth it! This is also a great place to have a beer and watch a game or meet up with friends. I wish the portions were smaller, the food was cheaper, more unique and of higher quality. As it is, the only thing on the menu worth eating is the cheese fries but that portion is MASSIVE and it's hard justifying that much money for fries. You could easily feed 8 people with that plate! I'd spend more money on more, smaller dishes and bar snacks. Vegetarian options are pretty meager too.

Eagle River, Alaska Ordered: Mozzarella Breadsticks Gyro Service: Friendly, Pleasant Food: Good size portion of Mozzarella Breadsticks Prices: Breadsticks = $10.50. Gyro = $12.50 Restaurant: Clean, Trendy, 2 floors, Lg. Open Area with adequate seating I first want to mention I chose this establishment specifically because I wanted to watch an NFL Football Game and this restaurant has an adequate number of large flat screen tv. A sign indicated there were 16 tvs in this two story restaurant. It was a large restaurant that could easily accommodate large parties. The food wasn't bad it was ok but it may have just been the dish I ordered which was a gyro. I saw photos of other meals and from the photos those meals looked delicious, my meal was just ok. I noticed they served breakfast in the morning and there was a good selection on the breakfast menu. I found two things to be strange 1st there weren't an adequate number of bathroom toilets for the amount of space the restaurant was accommodating, there was one single bathroom toilet per gender. The place was pretty packed with people and with one bathroom toilet it just wasn't enough and 2nd They had 16 tvs yet zero volume on any of them even though there was only one NFL game on for the rest of the night and the solution they offer was to sell you a radio for $15 so you could tune into a designated station to hear the game while you watch the game on their tvs. You had to listen with headphones but they didn't supply or sell headphones. If you were there with friends to watch a game and you have these headphones on it's not convenient to remove your headphones (that you hopefully just happen to have brought with you) it's not convenient when having a discussion in between plays because you'd have to remove your headphones anytime someone wanted to talk. I've never encountered this type of set up or option before. If you were not there to watch a game this would not be an issue and if you ate at this restaurant at a slow time of day there would probably not be a line for the one toilet restroom. The hostesses and servers were all polite, friendly, and punctual. The food was fresh and the restaurant appeared clean with a cool vibe inside. Overall if someone was just looking to eat here I would say give it a try adding to pass on the gyro. But if someone was interested in eating here to watch a sporting game on the 16 tvs this restaurant has I wouldn't recommend this establishment.

Have been here a handful of times, but my visit Sunday was a true disappointment. Our server was Reggie, be warned. As soon as we were seated he told us the kitchen closed in 15 minutes. (BTW, no hours posted but the OPEN sign was bright above the door.) No problem, we had been there before and knew what we wanted; I got the usual, angry orchard, loaded cheese fries and prime rib sandwich. Yum! Unfortunately I had to ask for a refill on the water, then ended up getting some myself after our server visited the table but didn't remember to bring a pitcher with him. We had the check and to-go boxes thrust upon us before we had our food 10 minutes and the plates were not even half empty. Had to ask 3 times (nicely) for a to-go container for the au jus with the sandwich, but ended up asking the waitress at the bar since dear Reggie couldn't seem to remember. Love the food, portions and selection but the service in this last visit has really ruined any return trip for me.

Just did trip 20 or so to the ER Ale House. Burgers are very good. Pasta and salads not so much, pizza is decent. The beer selection is fantastic and i especially appreciate their generous stock of Alaskan made brews. Noisy and full of TV screens which is kind of annoying. They are stuck half way between being a sports bar and an ale house and do both ok but neither well. Keep at it though, we need some decent options here in ER!

I grew up in Eagle River, but I haven't been back in over five years--when I made my visit out in September, I decided to try Eagle River Ale House at the recommendations of the friends I was staying with. I stopped by for lunch on a Saturday, and was pretty excited that the place was full--with lots of sports on the TV and a fast kitchen, the table turnover was good. I decided to go for the Bleu burger and a beer, and really enjoyed it! The burger was cooked well, the fries were deliciously seasoned, and the Alaskan White was on tap, which makes me love whenever I visit AK. There are a lot of new restaurants in ER since last I was there, but I think I'd be up for visiting the Ale House again.

Great beer selection! Extra greasy burgers and fries. I've been told they have pretty good tacos by the waitress but not until after she took my half eaten burger and untouched fries and gave me the bill. I want to like this place! I really really do! The waitress was good by the way. I was just very disappointed in the food.

This is our go to place for nights out in Eagle River. They have huge portions and an ever changing beer menu.

While this is not my favorite place or even remotely an option I choose I'll still come here with friends if they insist. I think I am more partial to the menu upstairs too. In the past I have been dissatisfied with the food. For example the thai pasta (which on the menu said had peanut sauce and to my surprise it was a curry sauce).......I vowed to steer clear of the pastas after being disappointed with a few. On this particular trip I was part of a rather large group. The pizza I ordered was not bad but I wished the pepperoni had been whole instead of shredded. Either way it tasted good and the service was great too considering there were ALOT of people in the group. The staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful despite the pressure they were under. At least now I have a plate to fall back on until I find something I am impressed with. For dessert I had an amazing slice of chocolate cake although the price was pretty steep for something that didn't even come with ice cream. I'm sure I'll continue to come here once in a while since my friends and loved ones seem to enjoy this place and pick this place. Maybe in the future I might grow to love this place but I don't know.

I've been to ER Ale House a few times....after several changes, I think they've honed into the pizza & burger menu. The pizza is good, burgers are better, but the service needs improvement. Long wait times, wrong food delivered, slow service, & servers not checking back or refilling beverages. It's too expensive to have poor service. I won't go back for a long while.

  • Nicole G.

I have lived in Eagle River for 18 years. When this place opened we were so excited to try it. We have been a couple times and it just keeps getting worse. It is extremely expensive for what you get. The servers are nice but we waited with 3 other family's at the front door to be seated and no one came up to any of us for about 3 minutes then when someone did three more came and kept telling us someone would be with us. No one was communicating. They have lots of TVs with all different sports going on. I hear the beer choices are great but that's where it ends. I got the nachos and it looked like they put a whole bag on chips on a plate, piled them high and put a little cheese and stuff on them. I had about one layer of chips that actually had stuff on them, the rest were just plain chips. Super disappointing. With Pizza Man right down the street, save your pizza craving for them do not go here!

  • Victoria S.

The atmosphere is loud, as you would expect any sports bar, but I suspect they are charging atmosphere money along with the price of whatever you order to eat and drink. The food is average, at best, and expensive. I don't mind paying higher prices for amazing food, but this isn't even creative stuff. Pizza, salads, etc. Nothing special. The waitstaff is always kind, but the bigwigs seem to walk around looking down their noses. I do not know them personally but it does leave a negative impression. I always feel as though I'm being bamboozled in someway when I am dragged in with friends. Avoid.

    (2)
  • Jon S.

I love the atmosphere of the place, the beer selection, service, and hanging out with the guys there, but the food is just okay and a little overpriced. The previous Johann's restaurant that was this place was far better. very homey, and unpretentious down home cooking, but it didn't have huge business. I neither recommend highly nor discourage this place, just average food overall, but if you like to hang out and have a few beers and don't want to go all the way to Moose's Tooth or Humpy's, this place is decent.

  • Rachel H.

Popped in for dinner...service was excellent, my husband had a pizza (half pepperoni, half BBQ chicken), my son had the chicken quesadilla and I had the roast beef dip. We all enjoyed our food. Drinks were great and service was excellent. Of course, we're laid back and enjoyed that atmosphere.

    (5)
  • Marty R.

Great service and large portions. Two stars for Two different items and two different plates.... Bone chips in my egg and burrito + unremarkable food = meh :-/ Then I hear from the waitress that they have food fights with the chefs during hours? Ever heard of food safety anyone? I better not get sick! I'll pass on this place next time.

    (2)
  • Jace C.

The atmosphere saves this place, in my opinion it's the best atmosphere in Eagle River to watch the game. Great beer selections, and good seating choices. The pizzas here are really good. The breakfast portions are rather generous. In my opinion they could give me less food if the quality was better. The breakfast fried steaks are huge but lack flavor in the meat. Here a tip sprinkle seasoned meat tenderizer on the steak, wrap it up and hit it with a meat tenderizer. The flavor shouldn't live only in the batter. All in all I would return, but if another restaurant opened up with the same environment, smaller portions but better quality of food... Look out Ale house!

So we decided to go out to a casual dinner Saturday night. We got there I'd say around 5. We were seated up in the wine bar section, because they were too full in the main room downstairs. Had to wait for our food for 30 minutes! I asked for a plain cheeseburger and fries, yet they put all the topping ( and one random mushroom) on it. Other than that though, the food was good. I would give them 4 stars, but they need up their service game

    (3)
  • Myra B.

Great burgers with tons of fries. We also had the chicken wings as an appetizer which were loaded (LOADED) with blue cheese crumbles - very tasty and a nice twist to regular spicy wings. Our waitress was fabulous - she's worked at another restaurant for nearly 10 years and just made the switch here. I was glad to see her as the previous waiter during our last visit was never around. Great food, service great, prices a bit high but a nice atmosphere.

Pizza comes in one size only, small. We had to order another one and waited FOREVER. Drove in from Anchorage, okay good but not for the drive.

Amazing place for beer. Good is good. But sometimes the wait take a little bit to long. But that happens when it's backed. There hamburgers are good and juice. A must place to stop if your in the area.

Breakfast Sat. First time in this latest incarnation. Used to be the Feed and Seed store, then went thru several restaurant configurations. Went for breakfast. Ambience helped by the HUGE TV showing Eagles preseason football. The beer is small batch from Glacier Brewhouse, but we need to save that for another visit. Industrial brew pub interior with exposed ceiling beams, HVAC vents and surface conduit. Total engineer geek-out. Decent breakfast selection. Mamosa... Orange juice and PBR... passed on that one... Well worth future visits.

  • Peggy J.

Being the only place in eagle river for football on Sundays. They have a great staff with good food. The only drawback sometimes is that they can be slow brining food out for people when busy. They have 60 beers on tap with lots of local beers.

  • Frank N.

Dropped in with Dad for a quick lunch: Had some delicious Pizza, Clam Chowder and a Patty Melt. The food was average, or even a bit above average, but basically the same bar food you can find anywhere.... It's a nice place to hangout......

  • Morgan M.

Went for lunch here today and was skeptical before going. I hadn't been in about a year because the last few times I had gone the service was very slow and not because it was busy. Plus the food was just kind of ok then. The food today was better than in the past and service was very very friendly, and speedy (even with the lunch crowd). Prices are fair for the area and portion sizes are just right. I had the prime rib dip which was delicious...I could taste the herbs that the prime rib was roasted in. Very very good.

  • Jacob C.

Good menu and beer selection. Sat at an open spot at the bar, took over 10 minutes for the bartender to ask what I wanted to drink, the place was by no means packed. Ordered one of the local micros. It was great. Ordered the jalapeño cheeseburger and a bowl of the clam chowder. Took a good while for the food to come out but it was worth the wait. Both were fantastic. Better customer service is what this place needs and it could be a 5 star.

  • George B.

We have visited the ER Alehouse since they opened. The place looks ok but the parking is crowded. Unfortunately the reception area isn't always "manned" and when it is the greeting, if you get one, isn't as professional as one might expect. It has a casual atmosphere and interesting looking inside. The "sports bar" part, big screen TV's, bar and beer selection are good. The food and service are good but not as good as it could be. This is a place you can go to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Saying it's great might be a stretch but it's ok.

Food is amazing! On vacation, stopped here to visit a friend and ended up coming back two night in a row. The price and taste has been better than any restaurant we've been to in Anchorage! The pizza was amazing and the black n blue burger was the best I've ever had! Plus a good beer selection with a casual vibe makes this one if my new favorite spots.

  • Dawson M.

The pizza was great. The burger was pretty good. The service was abysmal- and we were one of two tables between lunch and dinner. Took a while to get our drinks (no other tables to be waited on), then we waited 10 minutes for appetizers, followed immediately (we had just started the wings) by my son's pizza. Then, I watched him eat long enough that I had actually decided she forgot my burger, was just about to say something, when she brought it out. My son had nearly FINISHED his pizza. We then waited about 10 more minutes, got up and got our own takeout pizza box, put on our coats, and stood at the table at least another 5 minutes before our server peeks it from the back and noticed us wanting to leave. If the service was even moderate, I'd eat here from time to time. If its like this again, I won't go back.

  • Lard Belly E.

Eh, not that great, though I don't think it deserves 2 stars. Interior reminded me of Anchorage's now defunct Boston's, but seemed to try to pull off a Mooses Tooth. We got a table by the windows, but it was colder inside than out. They must have forgotten to tone down the AC after the sun went down. I asked about the chicken tacos and told they were tasty though E.R.A.H stated they were known for their burgers and pizzas. Mehhhh... My friends ordered the black and blue fries, which came out in a hot mess. They didn't eat more than five fries between them, and didn't comment on the taste. Good beer selection and huge tvs that are great for sports watching. Still, I think this is a great place for Eagle River. Service was decent, and the refills quick. I would come again.

Me and my fiancé went in for lunch and ordered the cheese fries as an appetizer. He didn't like them but I did. It's a HUGE plate so I needed it boxed. We payed and walked out, got to the car, and I realized I left my takeout box. I RAN back in to grab it. The table was already clear and there was a little blond girl wiping the table. I said, "hi. there was a box sitting here, I accidentally left it" . She said," I think we threw it away". Now, the time it took for my butt to leave the chair, to walk out, and then run back in, I guarantee you it was less than a minute and a half. I said to the girl, Umm but I wanted them and I paid 13 bucks for it. She simply shrugged and said, sorry. Didn't offer to check if they actually did throw it away or to remake them. Just simply, sucks for you. It was obvious I was an annoyance to her what with her attitude and faces she was making. I've had a couple of problems here but the food is usually really good

  • Adrian C.

Food was outstanding! Jalapeño burger was amazing. Chicken Alfredo was excellent. Salads were great. I believe it was our waitress's first night so service wasn't extremely fast but she made up for it by having a great attitude. Every one there was great. I can't wait to go back.

I went upstairs to the wine bar by accident. It has been set up as a steakhouse with a different menu than downstairs. The steaks were well prepared and so were the sides. Prices ranged from $25-50 for a steak, sides were extra. It's more of a place to take someone for an anniversary or a nicer, more quiet dinner. I've been downstairs for pizza or burgers which are very good as well. They have over 60 beers, all $5 pints and they can be ordered upstairs or down. If you feel like a steak and you live in Eagle River, the upstairs wine bar is worth a try. It sure beats driving all the way to downtown Anchorage for a good steak.

My brother, 6-year old niece and I waited over an hour for our mediocre food. I got the burger wrap, my brother got the fettuccine and my niece wanted a simple grilled cheese. We waited due to a large party sitting next to us. I understand food takes a while when parties are taking place but we were never given a heads up that they just sat down and our orders would be a while. Even our simple drink orders took a while to be brought out. I gave the place a 2-star instead of a 1-star for the efforts provided by the manager who removed a portion of our bill, which was appreciated.

Last night was the second chance for the Ale House and they failed miserably. First off, our waitress was average at best. She was extremely slow bringing our drinks and we had to ask her to take our order. Next we ordered a half and half pizza that was messed up, in which she immediately blamed on the kitchen. Next, my son ordered nachos, not a steak or fried chicken, and he didn't receive it until everyone at the table was finished eating. Finally, a woman claiming to be a manager came to the table. She looked like she should be cleaning the toilets rather than managing a restaurant. That probably explains why this place is such a mess. We explained what happened and she offered a ridiculously fake apology and to buy us a pizza on our next visit. We, under no uncertain terms, assured her we will not be back. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere!!!

We had pizza and a salad delivered tonight. My husband loved his Greek salad. The Thai pizza and cheese pizza were okay. I remember the pizza tasting better in the restaurant. When I ordered, the delivery estimate was 1 hour and 15 minutes but our order came in less than an hour. Probably won't order for delivery but may go to the restaurant again.

I usually do not write reviews but I found it necessary to forewarn potential restaurant go-ers about this place. Its not awful, the food is good enough. However, I have been there at least 10 times and each time it takes us 45 minutes to receive the food. WTH is going on here? If you are not on a time crunch this place is alright. If you are, you may want to try another place.

  • Richard H.

Just OK service, good beer, really good pizza, but what I really did not like was the price. Four of us, 2 medium pizza's, some beer, and some wine (4 oz. for $9.00...do you realize how much 4 oz. is??), over $100.00 including tip. INSANE!!!

Good place to eat breakfast. My husband and I have been here twice since returning to town. Generous omelet and hashbrown portions. Price was not bad for two people ($22). Servers were friendly enough.

I travel in AK for business and try to hit the local spots along the way. This is a fun place and I had a huge spinach salad for lunch. The service was great with one exception. The hostess seemed put off that she had to clear a table for me. That is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

  • Olivia W.

I really enjoyed my visit here! Some things, may you be aware, that this review is rating is the beer, beer selection, or the bar area. The hostess and waitresses (yes, plural) were very assertive and on time. My date and I's drinks were refilled, our meals were brought out in a timely manner, and the interior was very nice. This is the place to go if you want to watch sports... they have good sized speakers to play the audio for the large televisions that are in the eating and bar areas. This is a good place to come for a meeting or nice date, the noise level isnt high and it usually isnt overly packed. More specifically about food, I ordered the quesadilla's and my date ordered a Hawaiian pizza. Both were fantastically made. the ingredients were high quality and the taste wasnt boring or bland.I would reccomend this place for sure!

The reviews on Yelp made me nervous about going here, as well as my friends' experience where four times they got the Thai pizza and each time it was different. And the difference wasn't it getting better each time. With that info in my head, i went with a burger since it seemed a safe bet. I asked the waitress if I could get my burger medium rare. Not sure why that's so tough to do around here, but it is. She said that she could get one of the cooks to do it but not the other. She'd check and come back. Excellent. I'd much rather hear that than a quick, 'sure' and then it doesn't happen (which has happened to me elsewhere). I went with the black and bleu burger and fries and my friend had a burger as well. I also had the double mocha porter. I didn't notice all that much of a chocolate flavor to it, but it was a good porter all the same. We got our food in a reasonable amount of time (we went at 5pm or so on a Sunday) and my waitress assured me that she got them to cook it medium rare for me. Yeah, not so much. It was medium well- not a lick of pink in it, just like my friend's when she didn't request anything special. Still, it was a good burger- the blacking spices were done correctly and it was dripping bleu cheese. The waitress was around to see us several times, and I gave her a good tip for at least trying to get me what I wanted. The prices on the apps are ridiculously high, that I agree with. I usually get one, but not for that amount. Apps should never be the same prices as the meal (or more). If they are, you are doing it wrong. Cut down the size, make it possible to get half orders- do something because I'll never order them when they are that high. For the price of the nachos, I could get steamer clams at Bear Tooth. Clams are quite a bit pricier than chips and cheese. Come on. My friend also ordered dessert which was quite small for the amount paid. I'd go back again if someone wanted to go there, but not until I tried to convince them to go to Jalapeno's instead.

This place's problem is its management. Examples: Don't claim to have lots of beers, then not have the beers you claim. My buddy and I had to settle for our third and second choices, respectively. My overpriced food ($13 for 10 wings) came quickly, 7 mins or so. My buddy's overpriced pizza (18", $25) came a half hour later. They have a big sign claiming free wifi, but to use it you need to ask for a code. We had to wait 45 mins because they didn't have the correct paper for the code to be written on. And the code is only good for 30 minutes. Meaning you have to ask for a new code every 30 minutes you're there. The codes should be good for 2 hours minimum. Want red peppers for your pizza? Ask and you'll get a teaspoon in a small cup. Same for the ketchup. They need to loosen up with the condiments. This place has potential. To realize it, it needs new management.

Ate here last night. We ordered the charcuterie plate (not entirely sure if this is what it was called) which was supposed to have three kinds of cheese. There was only one. There were more giant cubes of butter than there was cheese. Tried to tell the waitress and she just agreed that there was a lot of butter. Also had the Thai chicken pizza, which was supposed to have a peanut sauce. It tasted like generic yellow curry. Service was spotty, food left a lot to be desired, but the beer menu is quite good.

This is a great bar, the beers on tap are extensive and if you can't find your favorite, there's something else you'll like. The food is better than when they first opened. I think the pizza crust was frozen then, but now tastes fresher. Upstairs is now open and that seems to help get seated downstairs sooner. If you're looking for a place with good bar food, burgers, steaks, pizza, this is it. My husband & I had burgers, our daughters had pizza & steaks. We weren't disappointed. It was cooked right, delicious, and our server was wonderful. Watch out for those bus people. They "fly", and they have a habit of taking plates that you haven't finished with too quickly.

Sigh, I have been giving this place chances every few months because I keep hearing that the service is better... Nope. Nothing irritates me more than a server who doesn't check on their tables and ask how everything is. The beer selection is awesome, but not worth the wait

This used to be the best pizza in town until they remodeled and put in a new Pizza oven. Now the pizza is just average, they changed the crust and now make the pizzas smaller. Service is usually just average. The waitress called me "Sweetie", and brought me the wrong wine. The new wine bar is hokey. Who wants to buy a wine card and use it in a machine to dispense wine when the same wine is on the menu. Although, I might have gotten what I wanted dispensing it myself. They do have a great selection of beer. The new art by a local artist is a nice touch. The place is still very noisy. I will still come in for a burger and salad now and then but they put Pizza Man at the top of the list for the best pizza in Eagle River since their change in crust.

Food is overpriced and sub par w/no imagination. Canned corned beef hash, french toast prepared w/loaf bread, and rediwhip. Ugh...no creativity. I will only return for their KBay coffee.

I ordered a white cheddar bacon cheeseburger and my husband ordered the gyro. My burger was dry and there was practically no cheese on it at all. My husband's gyro was made with pre-sliced lamb that looked dry and old. The kids each got a pizza off of the children's menu, and the dough was obviously frozen and the entire thing was disappointing. Not going back.

First time here after hearing mixed reviews. Limited menu-lots of pizza options and calzones. I had BBQ bacon burger. Flavorful patty, on ciabatta bun which I don't like because it always fills me up too fast. Hamburger did look and taste like the ones I make at home though. Very much a pub atmosphere-young, loud crowd. Difficult to hear conversation at my own table with all the background music and louder patrons. Restaurant clean but nothing special for a $13 burger and fries. May try again, not sure at this writing though.

because of the proximity, I've tried this place 3 times. It's still just so-so and a bit pricey for what you get. i do like the sports on the televisions and that's why I gave a 3 instead of a 2.

This was my second disappointing visit. Not sure if I'll give them a third try. On the first visit, a midday lunch, the music was so loud my associate an I could not carry on a conversation. My hamburger was very over-done, as were the fries, which were inedible. Understanding that any place can have an isolated bad day, I decided to try them for breakfast Saturday morning. Although it's hard to screw up breakfast, the restaurant gave it a good try. Service was poor, my order was incorrect, and the food was not good. I ordered scrambled eggs and got over hard, wheat toast never appeared, and my sausage was cooked way too long. For the price, which is on the high side, this place is definitely not worth the money.

We were excited to try this place as any new spot with 32 taps and a great selection of bottle beers is good news. It didn't disappoint. We arrived, post-State Fair, to find the place crowded with a 30 min or so wait. The hostesses agreed to let us sit at the bar in the last remaining seats. We ended up in an odd corner that seems like poor architectural design as it meant the bartenders had to walk out of and around the whole bar to serve us. Nonetheless, the bartenders were awesome in making sure that we got our beers and food ordered and checking in on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. Probably some of the best service we have had in the Anchorage area, although that is not necessarily saying much, but it was refreshing. Food was good, mostly typical pub fare which was good but about what you would expect. The looks of the burrito being eaten by the guy next to me will definitely get me back there next time I pass through ER. The beer is definitely what makes the place great, though, and I look forward to sampling several more of the beers on tap next time we are in the area.

As a local I was ecstatic to get another dining option here. Nope. Food is awful and way overpriced. I'm actually good on the overpriced if the food is worth it, but it's not here. Good for meeting friends for drinks but that's about it.

Avoid.

  • Nasha W.

  • Jennifer T.

    (2)

    (2)

    (5)

Being the only place in eagle river for football on Sundays. They have a great staff with good food. The only drawback sometimes is that they can be slow brining food out for people when busy. They have 60 beers on tap with lots of local beers.

Dropped in with Dad for a quick lunch: Had some delicious Pizza, Clam Chowder and a Patty Melt. The food was average, or even a bit above average, but basically the same bar food you can find anywhere.... It's a nice place to hangout......

Food was outstanding! Jalapeño burger was amazing. Chicken Alfredo was excellent. Salads were great. I believe it was our waitress's first night so service wasn't extremely fast but she made up for it by having a great attitude. Every one there was great. I can't wait to go back.

The downstairs is a fun casual ale house with great pizza and burgers... Upstairs is a new upscale steakhouse perfect for date nigh!

I travel in AK for business and try to hit the local spots along the way. This is a fun place and I had a huge spinach salad for lunch. The service was great with one exception. The hostess seemed put off that she had to clear a table for me. That is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

Just had the absolute best lunch . The lunch special was clam chowder with a Parmesan crusted cod sandwich . It was excellent and critic of all critics ( my wife ). Found it to be very savory
